As you read in my last post my new years eve was pretty epic. Do i consider it a great end to a pretty good year that has just passed or a beginning to an amazing year that is to come. I’ll go 50/50 on that cause so far 2008 has been pretty damn good and i can’t complain about everything that happened in 2007. The above picture is another one from New Years Eve. For those of you that don’t know that’s from Motorhead in the picture with us. It may look as those the photo is spliced together, well that’s cause Ritz or where ever doesn’t know how to cut photos when they print them. haha. Anyway, we got to meet him and hang out. It was pretty amazing.

This last weekend we headed out to vegas to celebrate Elvia’s birthday. We stayed at the brand new Palazzo which is the new tower that is attached to the Venetian. Every room in the place is a suite so we relaxed in style. The Official grand opening happened while we were there which was kinda cool but kinda not. They still had a bunch of work that needed to be done and lots of stuff they were lacking. We still had masking tape in our bathroom from where they painted. The nice thing about that is knowing we were the very first people to sleep in that room. Kinda crazy to think about what will happen in that room in the future. We had a great view of Treasure Island but of course with it being vegas we didn’t stay in our room that much. We hit up the Star Trek bar over at the Hilton and lost $100 on craps right away. Not a good start. We mainly walked between the Venetian and Caesar’s Palace. We all had a great time and of course can’t wait to go back. There was lots of this going on:

Now, the news of the day. Turbonegro will be playing the 2nd day of Coachella. If you didn’t already know i fargin love turbonegro and can’t wait to see em play once again. I got to try and get free tickets from some label cause it’s $90 a day to go to Coachella. They say they will be playing some other west coast shows but i don’t think any of them will be in San Diego or LA due to the show freeze that Coachella puts on all bands playing. Either way i’m gonna see em cause i’m president of the San Diego Turbojugend and I HAVE to be there.

That’s about it for now. Will be doing updates a little more often, it’s just been kinda crazy the last few weeks. Ohh, and my car got all fixed up and i should have it back by weeks end. Thanks to the drunk guy that hit me cause i won’t have to pay a dime to get it fixed.

You have no idea how amazing it was. We got the best dressing room there, HUGE amounts of free booze and everything. Our dressing room moved up and down, all the bands came through it at least once during the evening. even had 2 doors. wait…. that was the service elevator that brings you from the street to the stage. Our fridge was a small ice chest full of coke, water and miller lite. And to top it all off they put a note on the top that said “cosairs drinks only” on it. yep, cosairs. all back stage it said cosairs on all the stage times and such. can’t ANYONE get our fucking name spelled right?? We weren’t mad at all. it just made the night that much better. we all just laughed about it and everyone had a great time. We go down to get some food and as we pass one of the doors Lemmy is sitting right there. We stop, look at em and then walk by. We get to the next room and all look at each other and go, “Did you see em? Lemmy was right there.” HAHAHAHA

We played a really good set and everyone seemed to dig it. we sold a bunch of records, i was drunk and gave most of the money to the rev’s merch guy for selling the records for us, and i’m pleased with that. Of course we dedicated “Rocket 88″ to Ike Turner as we always do and everyone cheered. Nashville Pussy midway through their set say, “This next song goes out to Thee Corsairs for loving Ike Turner as much as we do.” and everyone screamed again. I was on cloud 9. Then Jimbo walks out on stage and plays “Shook me All Night Long” by AC/DC with them. Amazing.

The Rev comes on and gives us props. 5 or so more songs into their set again he gives us props. Few more songs and the moment we were all waiting for. Lemmy walks out to the side of the stage. Gets his bass and you hear the first few notes he plays and it’s that signature Lemmy sound. I notice they won’t let Sergio down front to take photos of Lemmy with the Rev so i track down the stage manager. On the way i run into Ruyter of NP and she’s all, “Thee Corsairs, i loved you guys. I’ve heard of you before and seen your logo around.” We shoot the shit for a bit and stage manager comes by. I’m like, “They won’t let Sergio shoot this. This is the whole reason he’s here to take photos.” He gets on his thing and says, “waive the first 3 song rule. let em shoot.” So I run out to tell Sergio and he’s already down front shooting. They bust through a few songs like “get your kicks on route 66″, “god save the queen”, and “Run, Rudolph, Run”. Never figured I would see Lemmy singing that song. Once Lemmy is done it’s time for the countdown. With champagne in my hand, i cheers Rex, Jose, Sergio, Nashville Pussy, Reverend Horton Heat and look forward to another rocking year.

I think, how could this night get any better? So we’re walking back to get some more food and end up in Nashville Pussy / Lemmy’s dressing room drinking, partying getting photos with Lemmy and Nashville Pussy. Then it dawns on me… records. So i run out front, grab some records and come back to their room. I give copies to Lemmy and the 4 in NP. they all are just amazed by the artwork and Lemmy shakes my hand. We’re in there for like an hour just hangin out and such. Sergio steals a bottle of vodka, we drink all the Jager and some of the Jack. Sergio tries to take a bottle of jack as well and rex stops em, looks em in the eye and says, “No, that belongs to Lemmy.” Just like the scene in Goonies. hahah Rex and lemmy were talking for a while and rex walked off. About 5 minutes later i see in the corner of my eye Lemmy with his had up motioning over someone. I look to my left and rex is talking with someone. I hit em on the back and say, “Rex, Lemmy wants to talk to you.” So he walks over and Lemmy wants to show rex this WWII Nazi thing that his buddy has. So they talk for the rest of the evening. Lemmy was so stoked to talk with someone about that shit. I KNEW IT! I guess while i was backstage talking with the NP crew the Rev said on stage, “Thee corsairs with some original guitar riffs. Support your local rock bands.” Good thing someone heard it cause i was too busy checking out the Nashville Pussy bass player. hahah
