We need hockey In San Diego!!!

Posted in Hockey, TV on March 26th, 2008 by Drewvis - No Comments

Lord Stanley’s Cup Ok, it’s pretty sad that Cox Cable in San Diego doesn’t have FSN Prime Ticket in their channel lineup. I’ve asked them a few times to add it to their lineup and they say there isn’t enough demand for it. I’m asking you guys to help show them they need to add it. I can’t watch any of the games when they are not on FSN West and it pisses me off. I emailed them today asking again to add it to their lineup and to not forget about all the hockey fans in San Diego County. Here is what i sent to them…

Can you please add FSN Prime to your lineup? Everyone in my household are huge fans of hockey. Right now you only offer FSN West which play a majority of the Kings games, but not all. FSN Prime not only plays the few Kings games not on FSN West during the season, they play all the Ducks games. With the Ducks being the defending Stanley Cup champions you would think you would want to better serve the SoCal hockey fans. Please add FSN Prime to your lineup. It would be greatly appreciated by Kings and Ducks hockey fans in San Diego County.

Have A Hotdog With Me

Posted in Life, Music, TV on March 20th, 2008 by Drewvis - 1 Comment

Colbert Hot Dog So last night Jordan and I finally stopped to figure out what it says about President Bush during the opening of the Colbert Report. Leave it to Colbert to come up with something like, “President Bush Have A Hot Dog With Me.” I love that show and would love to meet Stephen some day. So if you can help me make it happen, let me know.

If you didn’t know Jordan, Elvia and Myself moved at the beginning of the month into a pretty cool house. We got kicked out of the place we were cause the landlord had family moving to San Diego and they needed somewhere to live so they kicked out some really good tenants. What ever, we got a kick ass house now. It’s a 3 bedroom with 1 bath, HUGE living room and dining room as well as a kitchen that just might be a little too big. We’re gonna have some nice BBQ action going on this summer for sure. Now that we’re all pretty much moved and settled in it’s feeling like home again. There are a few things here and there that still need to be done but for the most part we’re done. One of the great things about the place is we’re walking distance from all the restaurants and such in Hillcrest. Wanna go to Ono Sushi? Park at our place and take a nice 5 min walk and you’re there. Need something from the grocery store? Same deal, 10 minutes there and back. I was going to post some photos of the place but you’ll have to wait to see it at our house warming party. wahh hooo!

Turbonegro Looking forward to the trip to San Francisco i got coming up at the end of April. Flying up in the morning of the 24th and will be staying at the Phoenix hotel that is like 2 blocks from the Great American Music Hall. I’ve always wanted to go to a show there and now i get to. Turbonegro is playing a headlining show there and rather than pay $90 plus a $300 hotel while only getting to see a short set from TRBNGR we decided to fly up to SF. Besides, SF is much nicer than the desert. So yeah, a bunch of the Turbojugend San Diego folks are either driving up or flying up to the bay area for the show. It’s gonna be good. Hopefully Euroboy is feeling better by then and can make the trip.

Bar Pink Elephant I’ve been enjoying my free time now that Thee Corsairs are taking a break for a while and Wendy and I are no longer DJing at the Zombie Lounge. I get to enjoy my days off and not have anything to do. One of the great things I’ve been doing the last few weeks was going to Bar Pink Elephant on Tuesday nights, which is my friday, for Tiki Tuesday. Ami and Andy are working the bar and they both make such good drinks. Must run in the family. haha. Anyway, I’m really starting to like that bar WAY more than any other in town, except Live Wire on Sundays, cause it’s mellow. It’s more of a lounge than anything else. You don’t have music so loud you can’t talk with friends, you don’t get the “this is my bar” type of attitude there. You get nice people there for conversation and drinks with friends. I think that’s why i like it so damn much. You can keep to yourself if you want, but if you hear a conversation and want to get in on it folks are more than happy to have you chime in. Bravo to the folks who own this place, you’ve got yourself a nice little bar for folks to wind down in.

Alice White Shiraz

Posted in Music, Wine/Beer on March 14th, 2008 by Drewvis - 2 Comments

Alice White Ok, new wine blog. This one is about Alice White Shiraz, if you couldn’t tell by the title of the blog. It’s a friday night and i should be out partying, but i’m not. I got the house to myself so i’m walking around naked. That’s right you guys… my bare ass is all over the couch. Better watch out Jordan and Elvia. :-) So while the work day is winding down I start listening to the new Mike Patton album. It’s so good. Reminds me of the Mr. Bungle days. You’re probably asking yourself “What does Mike Patton have to do with wine?” and the answer is that the new album made me want to get some wine and stay in for the night. So that’s what i’m doing. Listening to Patton, drinking wine and enjoying the finer things of life.

So, this wine i’m drinking. I stop by Ralphs on the way home to pick up some dinner and some wine. Like i said before i normally just pick my wine based on the label. Tonight i was going to go with a wine i’ve had in the past but decided not to at the last minute. I saw this deal, 2 for $9.99, and how could i pass that up. I figure i’ll have wine for the rest of the weekend for only $10 when the bottle i was going to get was $10 for one. On top of it all, i really like the wines from Australia. Not sure why but they got the taste i like. This one is kinda smooth and not much flavor when you drink it. once it goes down, that’s where the flavor is. Kinda sneaks up on you. Not too harsh and not too dry. Maybe not as dry as i’d like but still pretty damn good. I suggest you try it some time. I know i’m gonna have it again.

Hope… Progress… Change…

Posted in Life, Politics on March 12th, 2008 by Drewvis - No Comments

CHANGE!! First off i have to say I’m very pleased too see Barack Obama doing so well along the campaign trail. On top of that I like seeing so many people get behind him and show their support. World renown artist Sheperd Fairey has done 2 different posters for the Obama campaign, both of which have sold out in no time at all. I traded an older Obey Giant print that I had for one of the new Obama prints for Jordan. Today on Obama’s website they are selling a 3rd print that is limited to 5000 and I’m sure they will be gone in no time. I already picked mine up and i think if you agree with what Obama is saying and want to help support him you should go get one as well.

I just feel that Obama is looking to fix all that has gone wrong over the last 8 years and also keep the American people safe from the unknown in the future. He’s setting things up now to better the future for the younger generations. He’s getting people to think and to get involved in the world around us. We rely on our government to protect us and at the same time respect the rights that are slowly being taken away from us. He’s already stated he’s going to go through one by one all of the legislations Bush has passed over the last 8 years and reverse all of them that are unconstitutional. Our founding fathers set up this fine country to allow each and ever citizen the right to succeed in what ever they do. They didn’t set it up for massive corporations to run everything we do and tell us what we want and what to like.

Obama is a change from the government that we’ve had for far too long. To me it feels that his point of view is everyone, no matter what class they are in, is just as important to the country as the next person. I’m tired of having crusty old dudes running our country while they take money from big corporations to look the other way while they pass bills making it easier for the said corporations to make even more money they don’t need. So far he’s not been attacking his opponents as Clinton does every time she looses a primary. Every point he makes against her is backed up with proof of her previous mistakes or misjudgments. He doesn’t say one thing and do the opposite. On top of it all, I’ve never wanted to meet a political figure or even more so looked up to one… until now.

So Barack Obama, you have my vote come this November.

Of course these are just my opinions on the current presidential race that is going on. I encourage you all to do as much homework you can on things going on in America. See who you truly think is the best for the country as a whole. As we all learned the hard way, your vote and opinion does matter. We need to turn this great country of ours around.
